Hardcover link stitch binding

The hardcover link stitch looks similar to the Ethiopian codex however sewing employs only the use of one needle with a kettle stitch changeover at the head and tail of the book. This allows for an odd or even number of sewing braids along the spine. The boards are attached during sewing and can be covered in decorative or handmade papers and cloth. The boards of this style of binding are thinner than that of the Ethiopian.
